ROCK OF AGES  - Dance Band

We are a group of well seasoned musicians. The aim of Rock of Ages is to entertain and play “evergreens” of the past from the classic American song book – but with a modern and jazzy feel.  We, of course, play all genres but have adapted to modern styles to keep on track with the changing world of music. Our love for jazz and the more melodic contempory songs have brought us together again after having packed away our instruments for many years – concentrating on our various corporate careers.

We are a 5 piece Band comprising:

Keyboards, Bass + Vocals, Percussion, Drums, and Guitar backed up by individual voices in the band. We cater for corporate functions, Social clubs, Weddings and the like – No “gig” is too big or too small for us!

Having been around the music circuit for 35 years, we also participated in various TV and radio programmes with some well known artists like Bles Bridges, Lance James, The Beer Mugs, Nico Carstens and the like.

One of the highlights of this time was an SABC programme called “Spies & Plessis”. Participating in this music entertainment show, as part of Nico Carsten’s band, meant providing music and score for 52 programmes.

We are confident that you will find the music entertaining and energetic with the five members of the Band viz:

  1. Basie Burger on lead and rhythm guitar.
  2. “Kiewiet” Human on vocals, bass and rhythm guitar
  3. Nick Kamfer on Keyboards and Synthesizer
  4. Duncan Hastie on the drum set.
  5. Rob Groenewold on percussion

C’est La Vie  - Dio

In French, “C’est La Vie” means “That’s Life”.  In real life, “C’est La Vie” is the combination of two names – Christine Mansour and Vincent Du Chenne – a sophisticated duo combining 40 years of solid music experience with sexy, sassy, exuberance and extra-ordinary vocal talent.
 
Christine Mansour

A spirited individual, who believes in the power of perseverance. If Christine were a cup of coffee, she’d be a rhythmic blend of  Espresso, Arabica and Cocoa Velvet mixed with a cheeky shot of Grappa. Christine’s vocal talents have taken her across the world, to exotic destinations like Spain, Croatia, Greece, Egypt – to name but a few. Her passion for people and travel has developed her ability to perform in 11 different languages. These include English, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Turkish, Moroccan, Neapolitan and German. She spent 3 years as a cabaret act on major cruise ships. She is that addictive aroma that steams from your cup of coffee and just when you think you’ve had enough…you’ll request another.

Vincent Du Chenne

A vocalist, keyboardist and recording artiste with over 40 years experience.  Has performed, recorded, produced and accompanied most of South Africa’s top artists.  An exceptional musician with an unbelievable ear for sound and the uncanny knack of being able to “read” the audience.  Has performed in just about every venue worth mentioning in Sub-Saharan Africa.  An astute businessman in his own right, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience combined with musical talent.

C’EST LA VIE has a repertoire of a sophisticated blend of music ranging from the sixties, smooth  Jazz by Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Barry White Al Jarreau, George Benson, Ballads, R&B, Rock and Modern Contemporary Dance/Pop.  The target and principle focus is the sophisticated adult contemporary market.  Over the years we have performed at numerous corporate functions, major product launches, live shows & up-market clubs.  Venues include The Palace Hotel – Sun City, The Sun City Hotel, Casino and Convention Centre, Sun City Super Bowl, Monte Casino, Carnival City Casino, Royal Swazi Sun Hotel & Casino, Royal Livingstone Hotel – Victoria Falls, The Back ‘O the Moon – Gold Reef City, Indaba Hotel, Arabella – Western Cape, Mount Nelson Hotel – Cape Town, to name but a few
